How do I know if my claim is worth pursuing?
Unfortunately, with the market of building materials and labor constantly changing, it is nearly impossible for someone who is not in that field to know exactly how much a repair can cost. Along with the damages underneath the surface that could lead to future issues. This is where Ark Consulting Group and our team of consultants and public adjusters come in to make sure you get back to your homes pre-loss condition.
Getting an expert opinion is worth it to make sure you are receiving compensation for all damages visible and hidden behind walls or under foundation. You should try to contact us before deciding if your claim is not worth it. Insurance companies could use certain verbiage and wording against you and that could result in your claim getting denied. In the end, we may advise you to proceed with making a claim or decide not to. Working with the help of Ark Consulting Group can help you avoid wrongful denials.
Why shouldn't I handle the claim myself?
Insurance companies write your policy in a way that leaves it open to interpretation and not likely in your favor. Like any legal document, a licensed attorney or expert in deciphering policies should be asked to read over it and clarify any questions. Ark Consulting Group is educated in interpreting policies, thoroughly inspecting claims, and speaking to your insurance adjuster. All in all, it is just better to get all the knowledge you can, on your side. Many people cannot put the time into reading and understanding these types of documents and they are the only way to indicate how and how much you can settle a claim for.
If you chose to move forward and handle it on your own and you are not an expert, it is quite certain that you would be missing out on major points within the claim. Lastly, it is almost impossible to get a full scope of the damage without a line by line itemization of damages to the property and contents. After a loss, it can be emotional and time consuming going back and forth with an insurance person. In the midst of handling other aspects of a loss, Ark Consulting Group can handle the insurance company and prepare the claim for you. With the experts by your side, this ensures that you will never accept a settlment that falls short of restoring the full amount of loss.
Can my insurance company drop me for hiring Ark Consulting Group?
A common fear from homeowners during the claims process is not wanting to upset the insurance company. Whether it be fear of being dropped or their rates going up, the insurance company does a good job at making it seem like you have only one way out and what they offer you first is final. Your insurance company can drop you at any time for any reason besides discrimination. Your could leave a candle burning and you house could catch fire, they could drop you for "negligence" after paying your claim. Hiring Ark Consulting Group will not change that fact.
Can I make minor repairs to stop further damage?
Yes!
It is always a good idea to stop any further damage if you are capable. Please make sure to take pictures and videos to document damages prior to repairs and call Ark Consulting Group beforehand to make sure it is nothing that could interfere with your claim. Reminder to keep receipts from repairs for reimbursement purposes.
How do you handle storm damages that are uncovered during the repairs process but were unknown before?
If you find additional damage after the settlement or during the repair process, you can “reopen” the claim and file for an additional amount. Any additional damage must be properly documented and submited to your insurnace company. Most policies have a deadline of one to two years to file a claim. We can complete a free policy review to make sure you fall within that deadline.
Can Ark Consulting Group handle my damaged content claim?
Yes, as an insured, you need to provide a detailed documentation of loss. We will assist in creating an accurate content sheet with the damage evaluation in a way that the insurance company wants it written out.
How is the damage estimate prepared?
After a thorough inspection, possibly several inspections with contractors and experts as necessary, Ark Consulting Group completes a comprehensive estimate through Xactimate. Xactimate is a computer software system used by insurance carriers, contractors, insurnace adjusters, and architects to determine the construction cost for a project.
How much time does it take?
By law, insurance companies have between 30-90 days (depending on the state) after filing to accept or deny claims. Any extra payments can make the process longer. Negotiations can take days or months, depending on how fast the insurance company gets back in contact with us. During this time, the team will be contacting daily by email or phone. During a catastrophe, the process can take even longer, due to the amount of claims going in at the time. Ideally, a residential non catastrophe, it would take 90 days. There are many variables and it is difficult to say about how long for your claim without reviewing it.
Are there any upfront fees for services?
No. We don’t get paid until and unless you get paid.
We typically spend our own money and time documenting and resolving your claim before we get paid.
